    NZAA interacts with the heritage community through close links to the Historic Places Trust, the Department of Conservation and the Ministry of Culture and Heritage.
    Other non-government organisations with overlapping membership with NZAA are:

    Maritime Archaeological Association of New Zealand
    Australasian Society for Historical Archaeology
    NZAA interfaces with the public at large through its members, officers, this web site, its publications and a regular electronic newsletter.

    NZAA is directed by an elected Council. There are a number of other roles to which non-council members are appointed to assist with the administration. The Association is run on a voluntary basis.
