The New Zealand Archaeological Association is working to increase public awareness and highlight the importance of protecting our archaeological heritage by promoting the work of New Zealand archaeologists both at home and abroad.
The types of events to look forward to during New Zealand Archaeology Week 2023 include public talks, historic walks, community events, special exhibitions, museum trails and online content.
NZAA is working with partners to develop and share content on our social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Youtube and Twitter. You can also share content via your own social media using the hashtag #nzarchweek2023
Events are listed below, as well as on our NZAA Facebook page and Eventfinda.
If you have an idea for an event, or would like to get involved as an Area Coordinator to help facilitate Archaeology Week please email Toni-Maree, Archaeology Week Co-ordinator at archaeologyweek@nzarchaeology.org.
The NZAA has some funds available to assist organisations with the costs associated with running Archaeology Week events. Please submit funding applications to the Archaeology Week Coordinator on the above email for consideration. Applications should include a short description of your event and a budget.
