This year NZAA will be awarding the Outstanding Contribution to Archaeology Award at the annual conference.
This award acknowledges an individual member of the New Zealand Archaeological Association who has made a notable contribution to archaeology through a particular project, whether it involves fieldwork, research, consultancy, or advocacy. Nominations focused solely on public outreach are better suited for the Public Archaeology Award. The nominee can be from any sector of archaeology, such as academia, consultancy, government department, or volunteer work, but they must be a member of the association. The archaeologist and project should exhibit some or all of the following: excellence in the field, leadership, inclusivity and professionalism, and a high standard of research and outputs. Consideration will be given to factors such as publication and/or dissemination of the work.
More details on the award and pass recipients can be found here
Nominations should be sent to the NZAA secretary (secretary@nzarchaeology.org) by 5.00pm 30 May 2025. The award recipient will be announced at the conference gala dinner on Thursday 17 July.
