This year, NZAA will be granting the Dave Robson Memorial Award in Demonstrated Commitment to Kaupapa Māori in Archaeology and Kaihura Māori. This award is made biennially and will be awarded along with the other NZAA awards at this year’s conference dinner on 17 July.
The recipient of the award will have the following traits:
- Demonstrated sustained commitment to the pursuit of Kaupapa Māori in archaeology and Kaihura Māori;
- Been consistent in their commitment to Kaupapa Māori and Kaihura Māori;
- Been dedicated in their service to Kaupapa Māori and Kaihura Māori over time;
- Demonstrated commitment to advancing Kaupapa Māori and Kaihura Māori aspirations;
- Actively supported Kaitiaki Māori in achieving their aspirations in the Tautiaki Wahi Taonga (archaeological) space; and
- Actively advocated for Kaitiaki Māori in Tautiaki Wahi Taonga – in archaeology.

Senior members of Kaihura alongside the Robson Whānau will decide the recipient of the award.
