Discover the rich history of Te Waimate Mission on our guided archaeology walk, perfect for all ages. Join us as we tour the remains of the fourth Anglican mission station and early theological college still visible on the surface. Examine the surrounding landscape to gain a deeper understanding of the area’s cultural heritage and early Māori-Pākehā encounters. Our knowledgeable host will share stories about the site’s past, bringing history to life as we wander through this significant location.
The tour also includes a visit to the mission house – the second oldest standing building in Aotearoa – where you can explore the preserved interiors and imagine what life was like in the 1800’s.
Tickets are $20 per person, or free for HNZPT Members, and spaces are limited to 20 people, so be sure to book your spot for this educational experience.
