The Government is repealing the Resource Management Act (1991) and enacting new laws to change how the environment, including heritage is managed through the development of three new pieces of legislation:
- Natural and Built Environment Act (NBA)
- Strategic Planning Act (SPA)
- Climate Change Adaptation Act (CAA)
These new pieces of legislation will have a direct impact on heritage recognition, conservation, and protection.
NZAA is preparing a submission on the NBA and SPA and invite NZAA members to share their feedback on the proposed bills and encourage individual submissions on areas of interest or concern. Please provide any feedback to Rebecca Ramsay, Submissions Coordinator at submissions@nzarchaeology.org by 13th February 2023.
