    Southern Cemeteries Archaeology Project Blog

    By Laura Dawson | News | 17 July, 2019

The Southern Cemeteries Archaeology Project now has its own blog. The project, co-directed by Dr. Peter Petchey and Prof. Hallie Buckley (University of Otago), has been carrying out work at the St. John’s Anglican Cemetery in Milton, and Ardrossan and Gabriel Street Cemeteries in Lawrence. The excavations were led by the concerns of the community, who wanted to define the boundaries of the cemetery and establish whether or not there were burials in the unmarked sections of the currently fenced area – and a lot of fantastic work has been done to identify those who were buried outside the marked area for re-interment.
