An exhibition showcasing archaeological artefacts from Walter Sheppard’s 1865-1875 shop, Sheppard and Co., from alcohol bottles and clay tobacco pipes to pickle jars, glass tumblers and ceramic transfer wares. The exhibition, which explores Walter Sheppard’s life as a storekeeper, civic-leader, suffragent and husband through historical and archaeological evidence, is a collaboration between Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga, Underground Overground Archaeology and the Christchurch Archaeology Project.
