In 1985 a midden with archaeological remains was exposed near Heretaniwha Stream in Bruce Bay. 39 years later, Kaumatua and historian Paul Madgwick discusses the settlement and significance of Mahitahi to the people of Makaawhio, Laureen Sadlier examines the role of museum collecting practices and Archaeologist Tom Barker interprets the archaeology data from the 1985 site record.
