Regional archaeologist, Dr James Robinson, will talk about the legacy of geologist and map-maker, Hartley Travers Ferrar, whose work in Northland in the 1920s continues to inform archaeologists today.
Prior to his work in Northland, Ferrar’s research on Robert Falcon Scott’s Discovery expedition of the Antarctica in 1901-1904 also helped shape emerging understanding of the Continental Drift in the early 1900s.
