To coincide with NZ Archaeology Week 2023, a AIMA/NAS Part 1 course is organised to take place on the 29th and 30th April at Highwic House, Epsom. The course is run by the Australasian Institute for Maritime Archaeology and supported by Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga.

The AIMA/NAS Part 1 course introduces methods used by maritime archaeologists in recording maritime heritage sites. In addition, students will learn about different archaeological site types as well has having a greater awareness of maritime heritage preservation in NZ. The course will be taught by NZ’s leading maritime archaeologists with decades of international experience. On completion of the course, students will be awarded a certificate, which is internationally recognised and can be used to join archaeological fieldwork projects.

Time: 09:30 – 16:30

Cost: $300 NZD

Once registered, the student will receive a course handbook and materials in preparation for the weekend lectures and activities.
