The New Zealand Archaeological Association (NZAA) is excited to announce that as part of their annual conference a public lecture is being provided for free at the Waikato Museum Wednesday 5 July 2023.
The Hamilton Basin was home to one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s most significant and complex pre-European Māori horticultural systems. Recent archaeological work has allowed a reconstruction of the timing and adaptive agronomy behind this remarkable invention. The lecture will explain the results of archaeological investigations, associated experimental gardens and the interpretations and understandings which have resulted.
Speaker: Dr. Warren Gumbley
Free event. Entry is first in first served. Doors open 5 pm, talk starts 6 pm.
