Eva Forster-Garbutt, PhD candidate at Victoria University School of Architecture, will provide an illustrated talk of the wallpapers associated with New Zealand buildings that she has encountered during the course of her research on the import, trade and use of wallpapers in 19th Century New Zealand. s with below ground archaeology, the uncovering of layers (strata) of wallpaper, provides insights into the types of wallpapers imported at a given time, and the collective and individual design tastes and aspirations of New Zealanders.
