Join council’s Principal Heritage Advisor George Farrant on a tour of the currently paused project to restore Auckland’s magnificent 1928 St James Theatre, and see the surface archaeology exposed beneath the removed auditorium floor, and the interesting collection of utilitarian artefacts found there. Stair climbing is involved and sensible footwear is advised.
Meet at the south end of the Lorne Street site hoarding opposite the Central Library. Note that the theatre will be locked for the duration of the tour.
Bookings required as spaces are limited (Mary.Kienholz@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz)
