The 2017 annual conference was held at The Civic, Thames. The field trip visited Te Totara Pā, the Thames School of Mines and the Goldmine Experience.
The themed paper session was dedicated to gold mining in New Zealand (or overseas), kauri logging, general early contact-period industrial archaeology, social aspects of goldfields life (including effects of mining on iwi), archaeology of the Hauraki-Coromandel region.
